FAQs

What size is the kokedama moss ball?

On average the diameter of the moss ball ranges between 3-6 inches, with most of the kokedama's diameters measuring close to 4.5 inches.

Am I receiving the exact plant photographed?

You will not receive the exact plant in the photo unless specifically stated on the listing. All plants will be similar in shape and size to the photographed plant. If purchasing a kokedama please note that these kokedama's are handmade and each one is unique – natural variations will occur.

How long does shipping usually take?

On average orders take 3-5 business days to be processed. All plant orders are shipped out between Monday-Wednesday through USPS Priority Mail. Once shipped USPS Priority Mail usually delivers plants within 2-4 days, however occasionally they do experience delays, especially during the holiday season. All orders are provided with a tracking number.

Can I place a custom order?

Yes! We love it when a customer reaches out with a vision in mind and will always try our best to assist you. In the past we have made kokedama's with multiple plants growing from them (tamandama), made large form kokedama's, and have created customized moss walls for clients.

Are you using living moss for your kokedama?

No, all the moss we use is preserved moss. Preserved moss is great because it doesn't need strict living conditions like live moss does and it won't change color on you.

What happens if the roots start to grow out of the base of my kokedama?

You have a few options you can chose to do. One is to simply trim back the roots on the plant. Make sure you use clean and sterile scissors or shears to do this. Cutting back the roots will discourage your plants growth, keeping it small and restrained to its size (much like you do with trees in bonsai). Another option is to take some moss and twine and wrap a new layer around your moss ball. Finally you could chose to remove the moss and plant your kokedama in a traditional pot and allow your plant to grow this way.

Do you provide care guides for your plants?

Yes! All plants will be shipping with care guides.

Can you delay shipping?

Yes, but please contact us first about your shipping needs. We do not hold plants longer than 2 weeks.

Do you offer shipping discounts?

Yes, if you purchase more than one plant a shipping discount will be provide to your order.

What is your return policy?

We do not currently accept returns on plants. If your plant arrived to you damaged or dead please reach out to us immediately with a photo attached so we can swiftly replace or refund you. You have a 24 hour period to reach out to us after receiving your plant.

Do you provide heat packs?

We do offer heat packs as an add on to your order. Please note that it is the customers responsibility to chose to add a heat pack to their order. We recommend adding heat packs if your weather is below 50 degrees. If you chose not to add a heat pack you are accepting responsibility to any cold damage that might occur. We might also chose to postpone or cancel your order if we feel like the weather and conditions are too bad and that the plant would not survive.

Do you sell plants that do good in low light?

This is always a tricky question because all plants do need some source of light to thrive. If you do not have good window lighting consider investing in a grow light. These are easy to install and can replace your regular lightbulb. You can find some of our recommend low light plants under our store front.

What is direct vs indirect sunlight?

As a general rule light that passes through a window is considered indirect, as the rays will be diffused and won’t have the same intensity. Some windows that have more direct, harsh light—such as a south facing windowmight be considered direct light. Direct light usually refers to plants receiving sunlight with nothing in between them and the suns rays.
