Plant Care Guide

Monstera Adansonii "Swiss Cheese Plant"

Botanical Name: Monstera Adansoniimon · STER · uh

Common Names: Swiss Cheese Plant

The Monstera Adansonii, or "swiss cheese plant," is characterized by its large, heart-shaped leaves that develop holes as the plant ages, making its leaves resemble Swiss cheese. This easy-care plant grows quickly, vining in its kokedama.

Light Requirements

Bright, indirect light is ideal.

Water Requirements

Enjoys a deep watering once the soil has mostly (or completely) dried out. Tip: It is always better to underwater than to overwater.

Troubleshooting and Tips

This jungle dweller craves high humidity, which can be lacking in our homes. Try clumping it in with other plants, misting it, or placing it on a humidity tray.

This versatile vine can be trained across a wall with small hooks, staked for more upright growth, or allowed to cascade down.

Leaves turning yellow could be a sign of overwatering or that your plant isn't receiving enough light. A few Monstera leaves turning yellow at the lower end of the plant is completely normal.

Pet Friendly

No.

Taking care of plants is not a one size fits all kind of thing.  Knowing what your plant likes and doesn't like takes time. Our guide is here to help you, but it is not the end-all of guides. So if you find that something isn't working, change it up! Remember, every home provides a different environment and climate for your plant.
